I'm Maarten Hoogland, founder of the Center of Egyptology, an online platform dedicated to exploring the captivating history and archaeology of Egypt.

I’m currently available for consulting projects and promotional collaborations.

I am an aspiring Egyptologist and content creator, known for my engaging content on social media about Egyptian history and archaeology. I specialize in the daily life and literature of ancient Egypt during the New Kingdom. My work has established a strong presence on Instagram (@centerofegyptology), where I reach millions of people monthly, sharing insights and igniting a passion for this ancient civilization.

I am currently pursuing a degree in Egyptology at the University of Manchester, within the Department of Classics, Ancient History, Archaeology, and Egyptology. I am committed to advancing knowledge and appreciation of ancient Egypt, striving to bridge academic research with the wider public.

My passion for history and culture has led to collaborations with renowned Egyptologists and archaeologists based in Egypt, as well as officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. These relationships enable me to maintain connections with museums, archaeologists, and historians, facilitating regular collaboration and information exchange to enrich our collective understanding.

Through travel, photography, articles, and my Instagram platform, I bring the rich history, art, culture, and language of ancient Egypt to a global audience.

After earning a degree in commercial economics, my fascination with Egyptian history deepened, compelling me to explore the stories behind the artifacts. This growing passion inspired me to pursue an additional degree in Egyptology at the University of Manchester.
